HOW IT WORKS (commissions)
1. You let me know exactly what you would like me to make (i.e. species and background). If you have a specific photo of the insect that you would like me to re-create, please make sure you send it to me then.
2. I'll give you a quote and start making the models once everything is agreed.
3. I'll email you photos of the "almost finished" models. This is your chance to comment on small details that I might have missed.
4. If you are happy with the model, I'll put it in a frame. This means the model will be GLUED ON to the background card, and the back of the frame will be completely GLUED so things don't move about in the transit and you won't be able to open it (you can open it but it'll break the model and I won't be making it again!). So please make sure you are 100% happy with the model BEFORE it goes in the frame.
Q. Did you kill the poor insects!?
A. They are NOT REAL, so no, I absolutely did NOT kill anything, even the leaves.
Q. When will I get my item?
A1. If you are in the UK, your item is in stock, you order on week day, and Royal Mail's service is running properly, you should get your item within 3 days.
A2. If you are in the UK but your item is OUT of stock, I would need a week to complete your order. Please make sure you order your item well in advance if you are getting it for a special occasion.
A3. If you are NOT in the UK, whether the item is in the stock or not, please give 3 weeks for your item to arrive. It all depends on which country you are ordering from.
Q. Why did you send my item using Signed For post? I wasn't in to receive it.
A. Framed models are fragile so I don't want the postman to just drop it in the post box. Also I would like to make sure that your item definitely arrives at your house. I had people complaining that their items didn't arrive so I needed to re-make everything and send it again at my cost. Please understand. If no one is at home to receive it, the postman will leave it at the nearest post office for you to pick up.
If you really rather have your item posted using normal post, please let me know but I will not take any responsibility if your parcel goes missing.

Q. Why do you not have many items in stock?
A. In the UK there are 59 species of butterflies and 2500 species of moths. I have over 400 species in badge/magnet form. I try to stock up to 5 badges and 5 magnets per species, so that makes it 4000 items. They are all handmade, individually shaped and painted. Please understand.
For fake moth in frame, again, I cannot make all 2559 species or have the right species in stock. Please treat it as "commission".
Q. I bought a framed model but the butterfly is smaller than I expected.
A. I try to make the models as real looking as possible, so if the choice of your butterfly / moth is a small chap, the model will be quite small. If you want it bigger than the real thing, please specify upon order.
Q. I bought a framed model but the butterfly is bigger than I expected.
A. I try to make the models as real looking as possible but often the model ends up being a little bit bigger. If the size is a very important issue, please specify upon order.
Q. How many items do I need to buy in order to get a discount?
A. They are all handmade, individually shaped and painted, so even though I would love to give you discount, it's not always possible. Please understand.
Q. I don't like your item.
A. I normally send you a photo of the finished product for your approval (commissions). If you are not happy about your item, please do not hesitate to discuss with me BEFORE it goes in the post.
Q. I have a complaint. Who do I talk to?
A. This business is run by me, just me, so if you are upset about something I have done, please send me your "not so harsh" email to: hachiware.art@gmail.com
