Mural at Strathearn Gardens, Leamington Spa

I've done this a little while ago...back in 2014. A mammoth wall, a great canvas. 

In 2016 I got a lovely surprise from the lovely local people and the Leamington Society.

It's very nice to be appreciated!

My customer asked me to paint this for his wife for their wedding anniversary. It's from a photo which they took on their honeymoon.

 A miniature wedding!!

I was unable to attend my friends' wedding, so I made this as their wedding gift. 

I looked through some photos from the wedding, and picked up some items that seemed pretty significant. 

Very pleased with the Jelly Beans and cooked marshmallow.

友達の結婚式に出席できなかったので、これをお祝いの贈り物にしました。

写真を見て、その日のハイライトであったであろう物を選び、ミニチュアに。

ジェリービーンズと、串に刺した焼きマシュマロが結構気に入ってます。

 My Auntie runs a Takoyaki Shop in Shiratsuchi, Yamaguchi, Japan.

When I saw her shop for the first time, I knew it'll be fun to make a miniature version of it! 

As the shop is so small, I reduced the number of vending machines to just one (otherwise it'd end up being a miniature of  vending machines!).

I added her 2 dogs and my Hachiware cat in front of the shop. 

This is a photo of the real thing.

If you ever end up going to Shiratsuchi, please do visit and buy her very tasty takoyaki!!!

わたしの叔母さんが山口県宇部市、白土（海水浴場のあるところ）で、たこ焼き屋さんをやっています。

初めてお店に行ったとき、これはミニチュアにしたら楽しいかも！と思いました。自動販売機２つというのは、ちょっとした名物だったりもするらしいけど、自販機のミニチュアではないので一個だけにしました。

叔母さんの犬二匹と、わたしのハチワレ猫をお客さんにしておきました。

「みんなのお母さん」な叔母さんの作るおいしいたこ焼き、ぜひ食べに行ってください！

I made this "window" for my friend who works in a windowless office. This is now up on the wall and he can pretend that he's working by the sea in Plymouth. We don't often get this kind of view in Warwickshire!

The miniature pot plant is about 3cm.

前の仕事で隣のデスクだった友達へ、窓をプレゼント。そもそも窓が少ないオフィスで、仕事をするにも気が滅入ってしまいます。ということで、彼の好きな場所、プリマスの海岸が見える窓辺を作りました。この辺は海無しなので、こういう景色はまず見れませんね。窓辺に置いてある鉢植えは３cmです。

This kind of painting is NOT something I normally paint, but this is what the person wanted. I did actually enjoy painting it, especially the lady's kimono.

Commissioned work - "Sooty and Bonnie". 50x70cm

I was given various photos of them (eating, walking and sleeping) and then worked out the best way to fit them into the canvas. I never met them but feel like I know them quite well.

スティーとボニー。これを描くために彼らの写真をたくさん送ってもらったけど、それをキャンバスにどう描くか、いろいろ考えさせられました。会ったことの無い猫たちだけど、すごく知り合いな気分。

Commission work for Sowe Valley Project, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.  Project officers did some consultation work with local people and came up with a list of things they wanted to be included on this mural.

This building is a changing / storage room for Longford Park in Coventry. It used to be just dark green and was really hard to paint due to the pebble dash effect. I had to get local people involved in painting, which was quite exciting. Took us 2 days to finish it - it was jolly good fun!

ワイルドライフ・トラストでやっている、サウ・ヴァリー・プロジェクトからのコミッション。
サウ川とその周辺を綺麗にしましょう、というプロジェクトの一環で、これはコベントリーにあるロングフォードパークの物置／チェンジングルーム。周辺の住民のどういう絵がいいかとアンケートを取り、こうなりました。壁の表面ががボコボコだったので、塗るのはかなり難しかったけれど、２日で塗り終わりました。

A bit of air-dry clay work.... I like a bit of manga / anime stuff and at the moment I'm into "Bleach". As I happened to have some clay that needed using, I had a go at making those figures. I don't think they are too bad, considering it's my first attempt to make things like those. Very pleased, and I'm sure I can improve more!

紙粘土が余ってたのでちょっと制作。漫画「ブリーチ」に出てくるキャラクターを作ってみました。こういうの初めて作ったけど、なかなかよくできたと思います。

I painted this on my friends' garage wall, while they were on their honeymoon. The guy on the wall is also our friend. This took me a day to paint - as you can see from the shadow on the wall.....

Unfortunately they are hoping to sell the house this year, so who knows what will happen to this painting. 

Hope whoever buys the house will keep it........


友達が新婚旅行に行っている間、彼らの猫の面倒を見ていました。そのとき白黒の塗料も持っていき、他の友達をバンクシースタイルにペイント。影の伸び方でも分かるよう、丸一日かかりました。

とても重宝されてましたが、残念なことに彼らは引っ越しをすることに！新しい家主さんはこの壁を大切にしてくれるでしょうか・・・

Painted those for Christmas card which I sent to my fellow 'moth-ers'. I suspiciously asked what their favourite moth was when I was on a moth course. (From top row, left to right - Garden tiger, Elephant hawkmoth, Drinker, Lime hawkmoth, Canary shouldered thorn, Bird's wing, A gel shades, Herald, Saxon, Privet hawkmoth, Peach blossom, Merveille du jour, and Scarce burnished brass). 

蛾の勉強をしてる仲間にクリスマスカードを送りました。前に「一番好きな蛾は？」と聞いてあったので、みなさんに好きな蛾のカードを。

For my friend / colleague, I made a miniature farm on her office desk for her birthday last year....(she likes cows). So this year I decided to make a life size cow.

一緒に仕事をしている友達、牛が大好きなので、去年の誕生日にミニチュア牧場を彼女のデスクに作りました。

ということで今年は実物大の牛を紙とワイヤーで作りました。

I used chicken wire, newspaper, and a lot of PVA glue. I'm pleased with this cow, and feel I can get into Papier-mâché. My friend was pleased too. Next year maybe I can make a life size farm in the office.

I was asked by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to design & paint outlines for an under-path along River Sowe, Coventry. The original wall was covered in graffiti, so staff from Sowe Valley Project white washed the wall for me to paint outlines, and then a bunch of young people to colour them in. Local people seem to like it very much. Unfortunately it's getting graffiti-ed here & there, but nice locals are keeping their eyes on this wall and Coventry City Council is doing a good job cleaning it. 

リバー・サウ・プロジェクトのために、コベントリーにある「くぐり抜け通路」にペイント。もともと落書きが酷い場所で、それの対策。デザインをし、ペンキでラインを描くところまでやらせてもらいました。あとは１６歳のグループが一日かけて色塗りしました。周辺の住民の人々はかなり喜んでましたが、一二カ所に落書きをされてしまいました。すぐに通報されるから消すことは可能なんだけど・・・残念。

To make the car parking more exciting, I was asked to design a mural & paint the outline at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre (Warwickshire Wildlife Trust) in 2010. A local company came and painted it as a part of their team building day. I wanted to paint at least one moth.....so I chose this Lime Hawkmoth. Very pleased. 

ブランドン・マーシュの駐車場に「ここで見つかる蛾」を描きました。デザインとライン書きはわたしが、色塗りはコベントリーからの会社の社員が一日かけて完成させました。やっぱり自分も色を塗りたい、と思ったので、一匹だけ。

Painted from a photo, which I took in Slovenia. I wanted to practice perspective.....and I still need to practice loads. It'd be nice if I can paint things like this without looking at photos. 

スロベニアで撮った写真を絵にしました。遠近法の練習を兼ねて。こういうの写真を見ないでも描けるようになるといいね。

My friend adopted some rescued chickens from a battery farm. The ladies are having a good time outside of cages, out in the air, behaving how chickens should behave....

So I made XL egg cosies for his birthday. 

友達が集中家畜施設から、ニワトリ３羽をもらってきました。イギリスでは小さい檻に入ったニワトリに卵を産ませるやりかたを禁止し、そこに詰め込まれてたニワトリはレスキューされました。

初めて外に出たニワトリでも、外に出るなり本能がすぐに帰ってきたらしいです。日の照った庭で砂を蹴ったり・・・。その人の誕生日にニワトリのエッグコージーを作りました。

Painted this from an old photo of my boyfriend & his granddad (the painting on the wall was painted by his grandma, which was then painted by me....). I'm pleased with the corner bit where the teddy bear is. Many scopes for improvement, but this will do for now. I'll practice more.
